Our Story
The BCF was established in 2000 to tackle the most pressing needs in Barbados and build a vibrant community. As a community foundation, we make giving easy,
and direct funds where they are needed most.
Founded by a group of local business leaders and international philanthropists,
the BCF benefits from the generous charitable investments of Barbadians and
non-Barbadians who care about the island. Home of the Local Love Fund, the BCF receives charitable donations, manages the gifts responsibly, and then allocates grants in three priority impact areas, to vetted registered charities and nonprofits in Barbados which often have limited fundraising capacity of their own.
With the oversight of an independent volunteer Board of Trustees and deep connections across the community, the BCF has been trusted to grant more than $8 million.
