Terry Hanton is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Surveyor

Terry’s early career was spent in the accounting profession with Pannell Kerr Forster before moving to St James Beach Hotels in Barbados as CFO. During his twelve-year tenure with the company it was successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1994, the first Caribbean company to do so. Two hotel acquisitions were funded by the float and Terry oversaw the expansion and refurbishment of the properties.

In 1998 Terry formed PCS in partnership with Sir Paul Altman of Altman Real Estate, principally to direct the development of the highly successful Sugar Hill, a 100-home luxury tennis resort community in Barbados. Terry was the Project Director and project managed the development of 73 of the homes together with the clubhouse and tennis centre. After the turnover of the club facilities to the residents in 2005 Terry was asked to remain on as Chairman of the Property Owners Association which he did until 2012.

In 2001 Terry became actively involved in the creation of Fortress Caribbean Property Fund, which is listed on the Barbados and Trinidad stock exchanges. Terry was a director and Investment Advisor to the Fund and oversaw its growth until May 2018 when the property fund was purchased by Eppley Fund Managers.

During this time PCS flourished and became the leading full service property consultancy firm in the southern Caribbean. In 2007 PCS took on the development of Lime Grove, the Caribbean finest luxury retail and lifestyle centre, with Terry as Project Director.

Limegrove has over 70 stores, restaurants, cinemas, and amenities in the 80,000 square foot complex. The residual 6 acres of land is being developed as residential units and a hotel. Terry is a shareholder and director of the development arm.

In 2012 PCS was hired as Project Manager for the development of a US$25m luxury home on the west coast of the island. The home is one of the finest in Barbados.

PCS has also project managed the development of condominium complexes in Barbados and a townhouse community on the golf course in St Lucia.
